Green Building

We believe in building for tomorrow.  Whenever possible we use green practices in the projects we do.  The three R’s for daily life (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) can also be put into place when remodeling or building.  Framing to make the most efficient use of material, using salvaged materials, or using products made from post-consumer material are three examples of this practice.  Green does not have to mean more expensive.  Many green choices can be made that make little or no difference in the final cost of the project.  At a minimum we want to put some “green” in every project.

Examples of green choices that are cost effective:

• Design the space to: be built in 2’ increments to reduce waste, optimize interior space using careful design so the overall building size can be kept to a minimum, use passive solar energy, maximize thermal insulation, use energy efficient appliances, and be adaptable to future uses.
• Use materials that are: produced locally, durable and low maintenance, salvaged or made from recycled material, low in VOC’s and embodied energy, FSC certified.
• Protect trees from damage during construction.

Renovating conscientiously is the best way to enhance your property.  We believe that repairing and refinishing are often preferable to throwing away or buying new.
